This is poop i found next to the sidewalk. It looks like dog or cat poop maybe. Its hard and dark brown or black in color so that shows that its probably been there for awhile. It doesnt really have a smell because its been there so long as you can see where leaves have blown on top of it.
Good inference based on the leaves covering the scat...good job!
