Characteristicas of group: They live in shallow water they feed on worms, mussels, and slugs. They come in varieties of colors from dark blue or green to a light colored pink or white color. They have thin shells and no operculum because their bodies are too big to go into thier shell. When babies are made they attach to thier shell and then they detach themselves off the shell and onto a thick mucus thread that gets buried in the sand untill they are born.
All of these foods have some type of algae in them (:.

Plankton #1

This Plankton is micro phytoplankton.

This is a zooplankton it is a meroplankton because it is a worm. It is macro in size.

Biofilm simulation of the G.C marine reserve

We did an experiment on biofilm stimulation we used a graham cracker as our substrate (surface that organisms can attach to) the paper towel stimulated our ocean. The mini-marshmellows, lifesavers, and a variety of sprinkles for our benthic organisms. The little red sprinkles were the red coralline algae, the diatoms were the long brown sprinkles, The barnacles were the rainbow sprinkles and mini marshmellows,Coral were the long rainbow sprinkles, Oysters were the blue and green dot sprinkles. Everyone in our class had different results because of the different amounts of sprinkles people poured out and that changed the amount of marshmellows used in the experiments. This experiment showed what happens in the ocean because depending on where the sprinkles fell it showed their niche.

SIgns Of Spring

One of the first signs of spring we saw was on the perimeter behind the school. There were birds chirping and flying around above our heads and you could see flowers and plants starting to pop out of the ground. It was warm and sunny outside but the wind made it feel so much colder. I could hear birds chirping and the wind whipping quickly past my ears.

Our second sign of spring was around the the outside of our next trail. There were small little white flowers that had started to bloom. I found a tree that was already growing berries possibly for the animals that are going to arrive soon. It was very cold in this spot because we were in the shade and the wind was blowing pretty hard. I could hear the wind shaking the trees and the birds chirping above us in the trees.

The third sign of spring was next to the pond we found cat tail plants that had already grown as tall as me. We found trees with pollen hanging off of them called aldercatains and weeds growing around the pond. The wind seemed to be even worse in this spot because of the shade and being next to the water. It was 43 degrees outside but with the wind chill it felt like below freezing temperatures.

The last sign of spring was in the fourth spot next to a tiny dirty looking little creek next to the school. There were newly growing trees and flowers popping up out of the ground around the creek. The sun was very bright in this spot and it felt somewhat warmer than in all of the other spots because i was standing on the road. I could hear and see cars passing by us and the water in the creek moving from the wind.

Plankton wars

This was our plankton : ). Me and Jeremiah gave her a play-dough head and a sponge body, we stuck a marble and buttons on the bottom to give it some weight so that it could stand up and stay in between the water. We thought the the sponge would make our plankton float but we had to figure out how much more weight to put on the plankton so that it would stay in the middle of the water which was hard because you got to get it almost perfect for it to float in the middle. We came in second place we were 13 seconds behind the winner.

Adventure 6

In this spot we heard black birds and crows chirping and we seen a red cardinal fly from limb to limb above our heads. It was a warm day except for the wind that i thought was going to blow everybody over. In this picture you can see close up on a pine tree, this image brings the whole forest to life because not many things are alive in the forest in the winter time.
This is a downy woodpecker that Mrs. R found pecking at the tree above our heads. She managed to zoom in close enough so that you can see the beautiful colors of black, white, and red speckled across it's whole body. The tree the bird is in looks like it has a whit tint to it from the cold frost.
We found a tiny lizard squirming around under an old rotted down tree. It looked like a little snake at first but then my fellow classmate was brave enough to pick it up,
This is a warbler that Mrs.R found. I think this is a beautiful bird it had a gray and white belly with a yellow body. At this site i heard the wind, cars runnung in the distance, vultures croaking in the background. The wind was very strong today but the sun was shinning so it felt a lot warmer outside than what it really was.
